At one stage it must be admitted that there was a slight concern about being relegated but this was soon overcome with a late season rally.

The club ended the 2009 term in 7th position after winning 10 games and losing 11.

Skipper John Wood was the man mainly responsible for pulling around the club's fortunes and his batting performances. in-particular, led the club to a respectable League position. John scored 652 runs, which included a century against Hanging Heaton at the tail end of the season after the Captain had decided to open the innings.

Although 2009 was not our best season there were real signs of solidarity and a team ethic building for the future. Wicket keeper 'Mally' Nicholson, for the third year running, claimed more victims from behind the stumps than anyone else in the Bradford League.

The brilliant Walmsley twins were due back at Moorend after helping Second Division Bankfoot to promotion in 2009 as both Marcus and Edward showed their true potential after leaving Cleckheaton for one season to gain vital experience.

Tom Pringle left for York, Rhys Jowett signed for Lightcliffe while Asif Khan left the club after just one season as our overseas player.
