Cleckheaton first team 2008.

Back Row L to R:  Ian Wood, Louis Aspelling, Iain Wardlaw, Craig Wiseman, Ian Nicholson, Craig Thornton.

Front Row L to R: Neil Nicholson, Edward Walmsley, John Wood (Captain) 'Mally' Nicholson, Mohammad Zaman.

The team finished in a respectable 6th position in the Bradford League Division One after winning 12 games and losing 8. We also made it to the semi-finals of the Priestley Cup before losing to near-neighbours Woodlands.

'Mally' Nicholson once again proved that he is the best wicket keeper in the Bradford League with 49 victims to his name, which was a fantastic achievement.

Mohammad Zaman also had a tremendous season scoring 803 runs.

At the end of the 2008 term, Louis Aspelling left the club as did Craig Wiseman, he joined Windhill. Perhaps the biggest loss was Mohammad Zaman who had finished the season as the top run scorer in the Bradford League. 'Zimmy' went back in to the Lancashire league. A real gamble was to allow the talented twins Marcus and Edward Walmsley to leave the club and join second division outfit Bankfoot to enable the pair to gain valuable first team experience.
